    Congrats to your son DR.

My daughter was a little bit of trouble in high school. Every boyfriend she had was a loser (IMHO) including her Fiancee now. (I think we're going to adopt him because brother and sister can't get married!! )

Anyway, she did finish high school with a pretty lousy average and went straight to the work-place in a plastics plant because her marks didn't qualify her for anything. Leave it to say it isn't all she thought it's cut out to be, and after getting laid off, and almost having to claim bankruptcy at the ripe old age of 22, mommy and daddy came to the rescue with financial aid.

She's now ready to graduate from a local college at the top of her class in Accounting!!

Sometimes they see the light and turn around.

George, I feel for ya bro - here's hoping he sees the light like Newf's kid did.

    good job with the kid,rat.....

my youngest son turns 18 in july and graduates in june....his mother, the anti-Christ,abandoned him in january...he's been living with one of his sisters (an ex-stepdaughter of mine)....so after not being a big part of his life for the past 14 years,i'm being his dad again.....i told him yesterday that after the rough time i had last year healthwise...then the incident with his mom in january...it's as if God made this all happen...i'm going to do what i can to help him be a success...but he has an equal responsibilty....he thanked me for stepping up for him the past four months......kinda choked me up......luckily for all...his grades are fine and he'll start college in september....we,as dad's, do what we can do.....you done good....i hope that some can say the same for me...

My son is a great kid - everyone loves to have him around - parents want to adopt him - friends call all hours of the day and night - he has an incredibly sweet and nice girlfriend - he just has a bit of a strange sense of priorities. I think he'll do just fine, but I think he's always going to have to work at it because he's always creating a hole for himself. I just wish he'd use his efforts more effectively - like being an Eagle Scout and getting A's in his classes...

I know - my second oldest has hair past his shoulders, listens to (and plays on guitar, quite well) a sub-genre of music - black metal. The musicianship of some of these bands is pretty amazing, but the lyrics'll blow your hair back. He's a great kid too. He's just choosing to walk a rockier path.

Congrats to you and your son, DR-
I've got a son turning 2 in September and I have equal parts fear and excitement when I think about the years ahead.
