Hi. My name is Jim and I like to shave!
Where are th pics?![]()
I was kinda hoping nobody would notice!!![]()
Saturday evening, my daughter "borrowed" my camera for a weeding. She stayed at her Fiancee's place and I didn't see her before I left for the trip to where I am now, in Toronto. So I'll get them on Wednesday morning when I get back to work.

Hi. My name is Jim and I like to shave!
I'm not big on doing reviews, tobacco doesn't taste like "cocoa" or "nutty" or "mocha" to me, it tastes like freakin' TOBACCO. I know what I like and I really don't care what other people think of other cigars. I've never read a review and said to myself "Wow, that sounds like a cigar I'd like to try!"
The first one is a picture of the back of my Wing with 4 necessities; 2 cigars, the beads and a Canadian tradition that has invaded the US of A, Tim Hortons coffee!!
The second one is a part of the town's history. Some of you may remember in history and the Battle of Lake Erie. Well, the British Naval Fleet
was based in Amherstburg, and this is part of the park that remaons. It's the navy Yard Park, and many original buildings exist, or damn close
recreations thereof. In this one, it's taken looking west, past an original cannon, through the park and towards the river. The stone & mortar
& iron fence are apparently faithful recreations of the original. I took a couple of more here (really beautiful area) but because it was into
the setting sun, they got jacked up, even with the digital. If I remember correctly, the 2 pics I took with the disposable were facing more towards
the south, so the sun shouldn't have affected them.
OK, this looks like a good place to ask for help with imbedding pics.
Both pictures are 776x582. The top one is 118K & the bottom one is 190K. Why can't I make them so they're the same size here, and why does the top one (technically the smaller one) always appear bigger?

Hi. My name is Jim and I like to shave!
Nice pics. I was up at the park several years ago (I think my 30 year old son was about 12 - damn!)
Anyway, to answer your question - It's has to do with the way the compression algorithm works. If you have a large picture with the same or similar colors and areas, it's going to be smaller than a small picture with lots of complexity in it. The simplest explanation is to imagine a picture with no detail and all one color. The algorithm only has to record the one color and a repeating pattern (i.e., where do I start this color and where do I stop it), while a picture of a complex mosaic, say, has to not only have the multiple color information but also a lot of repeating and position information in it. Your second picture is much more complex than your first one. This is oversimplified, but you should get the idea. Hope that helps.

OK, now they're the same size. WTF happened?

Hi. My name is Jim and I like to shave!
OK guys here it is.... this picture is of a local nastalgia. Binghamton, NY is known for it's Carousel's. This Carousels and the Bandstand in the back was made famous by Rod Serling, the creator of The Twilight Zone. the episode it was in was "The Walking Distance". In the center of the bandstand is a plague dedicated to Rod Serling. Rod Serling was born in Syracuse and spent all of his childhood in Binghamton, attending Binghamton High School. He later retired and passed away in Rochester, NY.
The next two links are from the inside of the Carousel. The first on is my pic.... the second one is a scene from the TV series.... I couldn't find the exact horse in the TV shot. People were looking at me strange because I had a camera taking pics of the horses.
First Link
Second Link
The next link is a sign from inside the ride. E.J. Shoes was one of the big businesses located in Binghamton along with IBM. One of the founders of EJ Shoes vowed that no-one would be denied a ride on the carousel. So he bought them and made all of the rides free... price of admission- a piece of litter.
Next Link
My next picture is what happens when you take a boy from the city and put him in "the country"... next year I am hiring a landscaper !!!
As soon as I have it packaged up and sent out I will post the DC #......
edited to correct the links

That could be arranged some time next week for sure, Friday is my last day, so maybe sometime monday afternoon. We could take pics together at an historical site in NYC. Don't know of any here, but I'm sure we'll dig something up by then...
