That is absolutely horrible and wrong, wow. I don't think attacking widows is the way to go, and that definitely wouldn't play to Coulter's fan base as far as the religious right go, because most of the religious right are New Testament types and know Jesus and Paul had special places for widows as far as the Church's care went.
Threadjack on:
Aside from this though, it does bring up the very little talked about anymore problem of many of the 9-11 financial settlements that went on. It was in the news a lot initially, shoot Law and Order had an episode based on the idea (can't remember if it was SVU or not), but nothing was ever really resolved and other news stories took their place. Just like with Katrina, there's a ton of financial settlement bull-crap that went on (is still going on) and a lot of people are getting wealthy off the deaths of many, especially the lawyers involved (and some widows a lot more than others). But even beyond this, the question is raised, theoretically speaking (not practically), isn't this nothing more than putting a dollar amount on these people's heads that past away in the line of duty, be it financial (office workers) or life-saving (LEO's and FF's and Paramedics)? I understand the whole, well, how much would they have made until retirement and for those widows (men or women) who can't work, shouldn't they somehow get some compensation. But, my beef is with the great disparity in amounts doled out to different widows, and there was a huge disparity for many.
Threadjack off.
