A Brother PMed me and asked about the best way to ship to Canada, and asked I post the reply here for the benefit of all, so here goes:

Drew has been quoted as saying he's had great success with FedEx. I can't say I've ever received a package from them, so I'll let Drew post his experiences.

The best success I've had with receiving packages from south of the border is via USPS Air Mail. In many cases, the service has been quicker, and cheaper, than Global Priority. Make sure you check your options for your size package at the P/O. Also, be sure you get a DC #. They'll tell you it doesn't work in Canada, but guess what, it does!! They think that because the USPS Web Site can't locate the DC once it crosses the border, it can't be done. Well, once it's delivered, it DOES show up on Canada Post's website. CLICKY ME Same thing also holds true for packages going the other way, by the way.

However, note these packages have to clear Customs so bigger (more & softer packaging) isn't necessarily better. Package in as small a box as possible that will still allow for a little packing. You'll have to fill in a Customs Declaration form, and "Hobby Supplies" with a low dollar value is usually a good idea, and a Happy Birthday note is sometimes a nice deterrent.

Except for Drew's statements about FedEx, I think that's about it. Anything else I've missed, please post here or PM me.

Yup. That sounds like it should work fine. I have just had a bad run with Canada Post as of late, but if the last couple packages I have received are any indication, I am in the clear.

    Default A suggestion...

Looking at the list I noticed that there are no birthdays in March or May and 3 in June. What do you all think of moving the first June birthday (Drew) up to March and the 2nd June birthday (Dan) up to May?
