Default Bad day in Cigarville for me.

After leaving work today all my mind wanted was to relax, have a drink, and a cigar.

Make it home, fire up one of the questionables I tried to revive. I gave it an honest shot and completely decided "no." took everyone of those and in the trash they went(should have done that a long time ago but truly I had "hope). For more information this was a Key West Cigar called the "Casino." Natural/Maduro barbershop style cigar. approx 6-7" 48ring

Moved onto #2, keep in mind these are my "B" list cigars but still enjoyable. This was a Flor de Olivia, cheapo smoke but a good "golf couse" cigar which was what I wanted today. From first light, this one was harsh. The flavors were..well blah. Honestly felt I could smoke a cigarette and have better flavors.

3rd's a charm right? Hoya de Monterey always had good luck here for a decent smoke. Fired her up...initial pleasing taste in the mouth from the wrapper, little on the veiny side but not bad. Nice even burn, smoother taste. Gave it an honest shot but after about an inch and a half....I could not tolerate it. I rechecked my humidor and sure enough it was right at 68-70% Now I was frustrated.

NEXT!!! 4th cigar Rocky Patel Sungrown...this one felt just as horrible as the others, since I knew better I forced myself to stick it through. Towards then end the flavors were finally coming through along with a hint of sweetness, still not what I normally expect.

    Guado-1 Cigars-3(although 1 of these shouldn't count)

Anyone here ever have an off day? I feel sometimes when I just feel like having a cigar my mouth/body decides otherwise and wants to reject every flavor. This was an extremely frustrating day. I did stick it through and in the end at least slightly enjoyed my RP sungrown.

plane nut has a thread where he questions his ability to review a cigar...here's what i posted...much of it applies to your situation....

there's no "right" answer......what does it taste like "to you"???...if you think it tastes like roast beef...then that's what it is...this isn't a contest...you're not on trial....just enjoy the cigar...jot down some notes about it.....see if it triggers the same flavors the next time you smoke one.....it may not....a lot depends on outside factors like temps, time of day,pre-meal,post- meal,or no meal, yada yada.....

another thing....why not try to keep your cigars at 62-65%rh.......the days of 70-70 are long gone...that was best for conn wrappers....but much of what is popular today does much better with the rh.....YMMV....

I am waiting on the magical beads!

I am not saying I was expecting certain flavors I just did not enjoy them one bit. They were, well, just plain unenjoyable. It was frustrating as even a crappy smoke will still give me some enjoyment.

    Oliva* thanks BPP

I have to really be in the mood to smoke. If I try to force it, it never works out. Also, I too found that 65% makes for a much better smoke than 70%.
