I just picked up an iPod to replace (via Best Buy's 2 year Replacement Plan) a mp3 player (Creative Nomad) I've had for almost 2 years. Before I got the iPod, I downloaded all my music from the other mp3 player onto my hard drive (about 20 Gig's worth). Now I've basically used up all the extra memory on my computer. I want to load the music onto my iPod and then delete it off of my hard drive, but I'm afraid that when I do that the next time I connect my IPod to my computer to charge it or upload a few songs, it will update my IPod with the music which is on my hard drive which would be pretty much none, thus erasing all the music on my IPod. Does anyone have a solution to this? I can only think of getting an external hard drive, but is there a way to change the settings on the IPod software (iTunes) so that it will only upload the new songs and not erase the rest?
(edit: I ment Dilemma, not delema)

external storage. Using the work laptop for my personal stuff has been cheap and convenient for now, but I really need to have a hard drive that is more that I can keep the music, resume, personal pictures, etc. on. So off to BUY.com and got a 160GB external. Let the downloading begin!
