Thread: Partagas 150's

    Default Partagas 150's

Thinking about ordering a box of 150 Robustos. Lotta jack so I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of recieving knock-offs instead of the real thing. My mail order experience is very limited. Anyone have any first hand experience buying high end sticks? Can you recommend a reputable supplier? What's your opinion on Thompson? They seem to have good prices.

Maybe build a little experience first? Kinda eeease into the situation before you plunk down $720 + shipping for a box of gars. Thompsons does offer quite a wide range of cigars.

On the other hand, why hold back? Why screw around with just a box of robbies for $750 when they offer a whole humidor of 150's for $7,500?

Now that I've sounded this out in print, I can see the best reccomendation would be this:
Buy the humidor and gift all the gars to the fellas on this board. That way, you won't need an introductory post!

You can buy genuine ISOM's many times over for that price. Let me think 750 on domestics vs. 750 on ISOM's, golly gee, that's just such a hard decision

If you do not have a palate for "fine" cigars, the Partagas 150 will be a total waste of money for you. It's a great cigar, but you really have to know what you're looking for when you smoke 'em. They are EXTREMELY mild, with a very complex flavor that only someone with an understanding of fine cigars would appreciate. I'm not sure you fit in that category, but based upon your question I would think not...

If you really want a cigar you can appreciate - and looking to blow some serious money without breaking the bank (much cheaper than the Partagas 150) which is mild and pleasant - try the Davidoff Diademas (100th Anniversary). They're about $22 each, and are a great cigar all around.

    Hope that helps...

Don't know if I've been given advice or gutted like a tuna. Guess that goes with being new on a board. Not a heavy smoker. Primary smoke is a Leon Jimenes. Was introduced to the 150 back in the late '90's when a Churchill was $11. Haven't had any lately but was looking for something for special occasions (Vegas). I always see Thompson in the catalogs and have ordered from them several times. Just wasn't sure about something this expensive.

    Hi JC,

Partagas 150 is def a very nice smoke at the same time it is very expensive and unless you have been smoking cigars for a while and have developed the taste buds for differentiation is not worth the money at least for a newbie. That is the message people are trying to convey here.

That being said it would do you good to start a different thread simply introducing yourself. Let us know a bit about you your hobbies, etc. What you like to smoke what you don't; anything else you think will be of intrerest.

People on this board are very nice and will take you a lot more serious if they get the idea that you are not just a 1 post wonder but really a BOTL ( Brother of the Leaf )

if you're paying $11 for a leon jimenes...someone is overcharging you......

though a good cigar, made in the oldest factory in the D.R...it isn't an $11 cigar...
thompsons is not considered a discounter...they're almost the equivalant of a catalog brick and mortar....

i'd suggest you try some samplers...

    try caminoviejo.com

    and...rockyscigars.com

tell us a bit more about yourself....don't be afraid to use the search function...and try to have fun here....

Nah - you met the boys... Not a bad place - and if you spend some time checking things out you'd be surprised what it will do to your humi.

Seriously, though - if you want something nice for Vegas check out just about anything Davidoff. If you can't get 'em locally, stick around and participate. If we get to know you and trust you, there's all kinds of people here who will take care of what you want

Will echo GG on Davidoff - but if you're want something special for Vegas... stop by Casa Fuente in Vegas. You can get Davidoff at any B&M or mail order - some cigars in there you can't find anywhere else.
Look at that... I plumb got myself 5 raisins and 7 termites.
