Evening fellow noobs and other BOTL's,
Since I got onto this BB I've asked a lot of the senior members about recommendations for various smokes. Well, this evening I wanted to try to dole out some advice of my own to my fellow rookies.
I've just started a Connecticut Yankee (Guilford Gorda I think) and so far I'm really enjoying it. At first I was skeptical as I examined the wrapper and noticed that it was very veiny and bumpy, but I figured...what the hell. The wrapper is quite dark, and from what I can guess contributes greatly to the very rich and spicey taste; however, unlike most of the stronger cigars I smoke the tingle melts off your tougne almost immediately, leaving a subtle aftertaste. I'm not noticing much complexity in the cigar, but in this instance I'm ok with that since the the stregnth is so fleeting. The one downside...it doesn't hold its burn very well. When the stick is fully lit the draw is actually nice...not billowing, but sufficient smoke; however, if you leave it be for more than 30 seconds you need to take a few quick puffs to get it rolling again.
Bottom line, for about $2-$3 a stick I think this is a really great cigar for those of you who like the stronger side. When you get a chance, or need a cheap date, giver her a shot.![]()
Evening All,
John
