Default OK, so I get to Richmond VA tonight............

And I've been looking forward to this trip for weeks, and all the shopping possibilities here. I've done so much "study" on the stores in the area, where I want to go, where I don't, and asking advice to either confirm or put to bed the plans I've made.

First stop I planned to make was at an OVTC in Woodbridge. It was just off I-95 and said "Great place to browse, and have a smoke while relaxing waiting for traffic to die off.

Never saw the right exit. Missed it altogether.

    Plan "B".

Uncle Mikey's. Next stop, a little out of the way, but looking at the prices and selection at his site, it's well worth it. Found it without too much problem, but there's a sign in the window. What does it say?

"Mr & Mrs Mikey are gone on vacation and will be back June 26th"!!

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Shit. I mean, I'm sure they're great people and deserve a vacation, but why now??

So, not far from there is an Outback. I figure, hell with it. Nothing like a honkin' big piece of barely cooked cow to make you feel better. So that's what I did while planning "Plan C". Left there about 7:30 PM

    Plan "C".

Replanned my route to include another OVTC on Cary, just off I-195. Found that place pretty easy too. Got out of the car and looked at the place from across the parking lot. Hmmmmmmmm, looks pretty dark!! I walk up and it says "Closed, back at 9:30 tommorrow"!!!

    AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Jeezuz, I'm batting 0 fer 3. I'm in (what I consider) a cigar mecca and I can't buy me a decent smoke!!!!

Well, there's always tomorrow. Wish me luck fellers!!!

    Newf!!

    I already did, thanks.

Also, BTW, I have been using a punch on and off with some cigars on your recommendation from a thread on CP. I like it. I've been using the little cheapie thingy on the bottom of my Nibo torch, and I'm picking up a bullet punch this weekend. Those friggin things are $50 in Canada!!!

WOW, that's crazy. I haven't bought one in a while but I don't think I ever paid over $15.00 for them. I buy those "44 Magnum" punch cutters and leave one on each key ring in each of my cars. Just about every cigar shop I've ever been in carries those.

yeah but I know they are sharp, they have all cut me once or 6 times. I bought a knife once that I swear was possessed by the devil. I think it cut me while I was sleeping once

I've visited a couple of OVTC locations, one in Sterling and one in Alexandria and they have a good selection. Big LG/LFD, Padron, Fuente, and Ashton supplies at both places. They had a Davidoff dinner a few weeks ago where they were giving away specially banded smokes for their 35th (OVTC's) Anniversary. Actually picked up a few Padron 40th's and was pretty stoked until I found the taxes in VA are north of 12%.

Still, if you get a shot to visit one of their stores I'd recommend it highly.
