Default Virginia Shopping Trip (not dial-up friendly)

I made it back safely. Tired, but safely!

I had a great few days, was in some awesome shops, and especially met a few awesome people. A special thanks to the Brother who helped me get a couple of boxes you see below. You know who you are.

Below you'll see pictures of the fruit of my trip. The third picture is some of the gifts I received (top row) and is what's left of the singles and 2-somes (the bottom row) I bought to try out different smokes.

    EDIT:

    To fix link.

Damn, Newf. Great package you smuggled back to Canada. I am jealous. Let that King B sit for at least a few months. It will be worth the wait.

As a very quick guess, I am going to say over a grand in Alberta. Don't quite remember how prices differ from there to ON.

Nice stash for sure. How do you like those Cusanos. I just bought a box.

    Raiders:

Smuggled?? Who smuggled?? You know that's a highly illegal activity!!!! Yes, the King B is sitting in the coolidor in a Fuente box full of AF treasures like 2 Anejos, 3 Opus, a WOAM and a few others I really like.

    Chuck:

If you look at my "Report on Cigar Prices in Montreal" thread, you'll get a better idea. I would venture a guess that IF I could get all those locally, I'd put the value at somewhere between $2000-$2500.

    Fish:

I think that's a big underestimate. I know Alberta has no sales tax, but most of the taxes on smokes is Federal.

    Bass:

I love the Cusanos. I had 3 as part of a split from someone. I had two and ordered the box. The 3rd one I had I sent to someone in a package as I knew I would have a box soon.

Come again? We pay GST...and I believe our tobacco tax is one of the highest in the country. That PST you guys have wouldn't make that big of a difference. I'm not saying your estimate is wrong though. I didn't even count them accurately or look at a single website for backup. Like I said, very quick guess. I'm planning on bringing a shiteload back with me at the end of the summer.

Edit: WOW! did a couple quick searches. Federal tobacco tax is 77% in Canada, with an Alberta tax of 95%...The Federal tax on a carton of cigarettes is higher than the cost of a carton here in the states, including taxes. I didn't look up any other provinces though. I'll check on Ontario.

Sorry, I meant Provincial taxes. Everyone pays GST on almost everything.

Look at my Montreal thread. I mean, $24 for a short Story and $22 for an 8-5-8. $64 for a Padron '64 and $38 for a Padron 6000!!! And I don't think those prices are including PST (don't know about GST).

Sry i missed u while u were in Richmond. Had alot going on and didnt even know you wer coming own. Uncle Mikeys Herf House is not that great of a place. Unless you are very old, like uncle Mikey himself, he doenst really like many people. I know the first time i stepped into his store, he gave me an akward eye and did not give me very much help. I am going to make everyone a list of places to go next time any of you are in Richmond. I will post it in the Cigar Stores category. So you all can discover the wonderful atmosphere here, and not just think of us as the Syphilis capital of the United States.
    P.S.
Newfie, Nice haul man. Let those Opus cigars sit man. I know its tempting, but just have self control. I jsut got my first one while i was down in Kitty Hawk(never get cigars at the beach. It will cost you an arm and a leg). Tempted to go sit outside rite know and lite that bad boy up.
