I really hope someone didn't hack BPP's username. I definitely respect BPP and his judgement so I will trust him.

Last night, I fired up the Corona...

First impressions were a little off... It was actually sealed in its cellophane, which I thought was odd; I had to cut th cellophane with my Xikar. Not a bad thing, per se, just something I've never seen.

Like BPP's, the cap on mine seemed a little off-kilter. I'm not terribly into aesthetics, so that doesn't bother me much.

The next thing I noticed was the cigar was packed very loosely and seemed very spongy.

    Now the flavor....
The tobacco tasted really good. The cigar had a light enough draw for me and produced tons of smoke. I was actually quite impressed with the flavor of the tobacco...

    However...
It seemed to have a bit of a sweet vanilla-ey aftertaste to it. It was less prominent if I drew in a lot of smoke, but it was still there in an aftertaste.

I don't know if this cigar is flavored at all (Don Collins says it is SWEET AND SPICY, but said no more) or if it was just from being packaged with the lonsdales which are cured with rum and vanilla.

I've since segregated the long filler from the cured, which I hope will prevent any further cross-contamination.

    Would I buy this cigar?
No. The tobacco tastes great, but the nagging vanilla flavor really turned me off (it was a little like smoking candy)

Will I continue tasting the samples?
Absolutely. These cigars do show great promise. If the tobacco in the long filler sticks tastes this good, I may have finally found a Puerto Rican favorite.

(The ultimate test may come this weekend when I take these cigars on the road with me and offer one to a GENUINE Puerto Rican! )

same thing with the cello on mine.....i've tried to pick up a vanilla scent when i'm opening the cello and smelling the cigar...but i can't smell anything that would tell me that this is a flavored cigar...i wouldn't rave about it if i did.....i sense that it's in the curing of tobacco.....i'll smoke another sample today.....the aroma and taste is excellent...and no aftertaste at all....i'd like to know if the company considers these flavored cigars......i don't think they are...but i do sense "vanilla"...but not like smoking a tatiana or cojimar.....which i certainly wouldn't rave about...

the construction on the coronas should be a little less rustic...
