Thread: Got my Thompson samples

    Default Got my Thompson samples

Just got my Thompson samples per a recommendation from this board. Can someone tell me what I got - did I get anything good? The Thompson sticks look like they were rolled by someone from the school for the visually impaired. Also, does anyone know how I can control the photo size in a post?

Far left looks lke a Padron thousand series. Never seen the next two, then there's a CAO Criollo, a Torano Exodus and a CAO Brazilia. All 3 I enjoy. I don't know shite all about the thompson house sticks. I am terrible at remembering the sizes, so nothing more specific from me. Sorry.

The thompson sticks are not bad either especially for $2 cigar

I can't comment on the Thompson sticks either, but the RP Sun Grown I would consider full bodied. The 2 from CAO are both good and the Padron on the far left is good for the price. The higher the number on the Padron (2000 to 6000) the higher the price, at least where I buy them.

if i'm not mistaken, the thompson sticks (if they're from the D.R.) are made by matasa (fonseca et al)..in that case they'd be more than pretty good for the money...

Guessing from the ruler, the Padron is a Delicias (4 7/8 x 46). Never had the Thompson's, but the rest of them smoke pretty good to me.

A Kiki Harvest of 1999 , a couple of Leon Jimenes , a Segovia, an Ashton Cabinet, and a couple of Cohiba Cubans, probably knock-offs. My son bought them in Jamaica while on a recent cruise. He was very proud of his "find" (he's 16). Didn't have the heart to tell him that they were probably fake.

Also, thanks to all for the feedback on the Thompson samples. This board is really helping out. I'm gonna let 'em sit for a week or so in the box so they can get used to their new home. Then I'm gonna try the Padron.

I love the RP Sungrowns. My fav next to the Old World by RP. THe Padron is okay for the price, the Criollo is a great gicar, didnt much enjoy the brazilia compared to the italia. Thompsons arent very good. Had a few myself, and they were not very good. Have not had the torano, but i have heard good things.

A NY Brother helped me out with this same sampler, and I think it's a great deal for the money.
I actually found those Thompsons alright for the price. The same BOTL and I are in the process of working out a trade of a box of those (natural Torpedos) for a bottle of "Liquid Panty Remover".

leon jimenes and la aurora are from the leon jimenes factory...the oldest in the D.R. (1903)....the leon jimenes is a conn wrapper...the la aurora probably the first to use cameroon.......they're both very well made and probably the most readily smoked cigars smoked in the D.R......but the maduro's in both are,imho...the best maduros to be smoked..

Newfie - The Leon Jimenes are a great smoke. I definitely recommend them. I started smoking them several years ago while working in the D.R. There was another cigar there that was very popular but I've never seen them anyplace but in the D.R. They were called 'Principes' and also from la Aurora. They were a small RG and came 5 to a box. Good and very inexpensive. Wish I could find them around here.

I'm not big on doing reviews, tobacco doesn't taste like "cocoa" or "nutty" or "mocha" to me, it tastes like freakin' TOBACCO. I know what I like and I really don't care what other people think of other cigars. I've never read a review and said to myself "Wow, that sounds like a cigar I'd like to try!"
