Thread: My first ISOM purchase

    Default My first ISOM purchase

Well back in May I got my first ISOM purchase. I bought a petite corona sampler and then did a swap with a good friend of mine who ordered a robusto sampler from the same source. I'm going to let those babies age for about 12 months before I try a few, then determine if they need another six months or so. I figure by then, I will be able to determine which ones I like the best and get a box of those!

So far from singles I have gotten from other kind BOTL's I like the Boli PC and the PSD4 robusto the best, and I have 2-3 of each now!! Can't wait for next May, but from what I have heard they really are better with some age on them.

Do yourself a favor and try the Cohiba Sig VI. What robustos did you get? Coro, RASS...?

A year might not mean that much. Since they are samplers, I'm guessing you don't know the box codes for them, but to truly start coming into their own the robustos may need 3 years or so, a little less for the pc's. Boli PC is about the best small cigar going, IMHO. Some people say that the gaining popularity of the PSD4 has had an effect on their quality, but I don't think so. The PSD4 is a cigar that can be enjoyed young too.
    Congratulations on your purchases.
    Captain, it is I!

So what you guys are saying is..........you should age all ISOM's? What is the minimum period? Thanks

all cigars are not the same so I would think that the aging process can be different for different brands/sizes. However, I would think two years is minimum for a "green" cigar. The sublimes are just now coming into age, and I think they are '04 production.

Well I will try a few in May 07, then see how they taste. If I am not suitably impressed, I will wait one more year. Also, I will buy two boxes of cigars next spring so that in May 09 I can smoke more ISOM's.

It all depends on what you want out of a cigar. Some people like the raw taste a freshly rolled cigar has.

Some prefer the refined taste aging gives.

I suggest you smoke em at various intervals to determine what level of aging you prefer.

I agree, it's all about personal tastes.
