I always check latest posts by going:
Quick Links >> Todays posts on the tool bar. That is between any thread that has new posts (or new threads obviously) and any old threads that haven't been updated since last visit.
If you wish, I can take a screen shot with Snag-It and e-mail it to you.

Ok, I see what you are talking about now. I don't think I can change that, I think its a new feature.. I might be able to change the style so it looks different (seperate things a bit more maybe?).

Actually the stupid thing uses a generic style. I can't do that either...
