That seems to be the modus operandi for todays corporations. Keep squeezing every bit of blood out of employees until they quit out of frustration, then hire someone else (usually younger) to do the job, squeeze them until they quit, rinse and repeat. At my company, pay and benefits keep being cut yet expecations keep rising.
