    Default Health Insurance.....what if....

A scary subject to be exploring. But one that needs to be asked.

What if one is suddenly without company health insurance, and COBRA is not an option?

Right now I have a Cadillac plan, great co-pays on doctor visits and especially prescription meds. I'm on 2 HBP meds and 2 Glaucoma drops and the prospect of paying full price for these is pretty intimidating!

Do any of you get their drugs in Canada, and what is the procedure for initiating this? And especially what about catastrophic coverage? My several recent ER episodes cost about 10K and all I was liable for was $75/visit.

What do people do if they're suddenly not covered by a health plan?

I need to look into all options. Not saying this may come down but certainly a possibility.

    TIA

Unfortunately the health insurance landscape varies state by state.

COBRA is not an option for many people due to the cost. When I quit my previous job to go to work at my present job I simply could not afford the high payments to keep my insurance in effect. It was one of the most frightening 30 days of my life.

Don't really know the answer to your question...Hope I never have to face that problem again.

I haven't had any health insurance for almost five years now. My ex-wife hasn't had any for ten years. We just pay as we go. It's a helluva lot cheaper than 10K+ per year for premiums.
