I got bored so here are my toys.

The PC is for games and the wife uses it for emails and what not. The Mac is for important stuff like design and cigar forums(that's what I stare at all day). And for fun, some actually toys...err...collectibles.

Video of the Dancing Demon game on the TRS-80

Gotta love vintage PCs. I miss my old lunchbox pc but it gave up the magic smoke a couple years ago.

What does a set-up like this run?

Also, I'm in the market for a new computer for the home -- any suggestions on brands, etc.? We don't do anything special -- photos, music, some simple videos, and some document work. I have a Dell XPS desktop that I bought in 2002 -- but the thing run's so friggin slow (and seems to be getting slower). I also have an XPS laptop, but I moved the bulk of music over the other night and realized that i only had a 70gig harddrive in it...

    Default Suggestion

If i were you and i wanted a well-built custom computer but didn't want to go to the trouble to build it myself then i would check out this website

    www.cyberpowerpc.com

They will custom build a computer from a vast array of components (quality ones that last) and mail it to your doorstep ready to go. I have not personally used them but i know a few who have and they were very pleased. Check it out.

Thanks for the suggestion -- from what I can tell, their custom units will price at less than what I paid for my Dells and be better equipped. This is for Dell:

Price tag on that system is probably 2500 without the processor. The processor I got from a special deal with Intel. The Core 2 Extreme processors run close to $1000 but I got it for much less. Other than that I spent about 1000 on the watercooling and 600 on the mother board and ram. Velociraptors run about 300 and the case itself is about 200. Video cards were about 250 each but there are nicer ones now for that price. For the most part my PC has been a work in progress since 2004. The case is so nice there is no need to upgrade it but getting all the watercooling working together and cable managing took hours of custom work with a little bit of trial and error. This computer has seen two different motherboards, two different processors, four different video cards and four different hard drives. Every couple of years I do an upgrade to keep it up to date.

There's not a whole lot of companies that will have a water cooled system like this for sale. The ones I know who would are Falcon Northwest and possibly Alienware. Voodoo PC also has a crazy system with a watercooling setup. What you could do is get a system from CyberpowerPC and get someone to upgrade it with watercooling. I would be more than happy to help you out with that since I find joy in installing/configuring these kind of setups.

Let me know if you're interested or have any questions, I'll be glad to consult you on specs as well.

I was gonna ask this guy a question but I'd be talking to a ghost.

What do you need all this $hit for, gaming or some such silliness?

There is nothing silly about gaming. It is a very serious, non-fun, non-entertaining pastime.

I did read it, but rushed in my response, it wasn't directed straight at Bill, but it does look like it has some serious H P
