Apparantly there is a need for all that chatter at the beginning of the flight. I would imagine that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I did see a person get off of a plane once after the destination announcement. Think of how much more often this would happen without those "annoying" announcements.
I had two girl type friends in college who wanted to go to Athens Greece and bought tickets. Unfortunitly for them, they didn't realize that they bought tickets for Athens Georgia. They discoverd it at the airport before their flight. Those dumbasses were brought up with more money then brains. It still cracks me up to this day.
