Thread: Carlos Torano Casa Torano

    Default Carlos Torano Casa Torano

Today after a pack of peanut butter crackers and a Tostino's Pepperonni Pizza, I will be smoking a Casa Torano of Carlos Torano fame.

    Toro
    Length: 6 1/4
    Ring: 50

    Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut
Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua and a family blend of Central & South American Tobaccos
    Binder: Nicaragua

These can be had at around $3-4

I've had some of these sitting in the trunk for a while and after reading my replies to my last review on the Virtuoso I've decided to give one a whirl. These came in the same sampler as the the Virtuoso about 2 months ago.

"Perhaps the silkiest wrappers around, Connecticut Shade wrappers are recognizable for their light, golden brown color. They are mild and have remarkably unobtrusive veins. For more flavor, look for the seed grown in Honduras or the volcanic soil of Ecuador."

Construction looks good. One small soft spot, no big deal, it didn't create an uneven born once reached. Cut easy, lit okay, i scorched it a little, so i let it burn for a minute before starting my journey.

I would label this medium bodied. The first 1/4 this cigar was very smooth. Smooth, but still burns when exhaled through the nostrils. Now I'm not sure if this is pepper or spice, i believe I get the two confused. I also tasted hints of leather, which I was excited about. Not the fact that it was leather, but the fact that I was detecting it. Also got a little black pepper in there, too. woot.

About 1/2 way through it mellowed out to more of a mild-medium body. Shortly after I started getting a bitter taste and was having to take shots out of my Milo's Tea jug after every puff. This might be the fact that I got really engrossed into some reading and forgot I was smoking a cigar.

Lots of smoke with this cigar, which I like. And like any other Torano that I've had the pleasure of smoking, this one had an excellent draw and an even burn through the whole smoke. The ash didn't hold near as long, though. Fell off every inch, got it all in my keyboard . Honestly, I didn't enjoy this cigar as much as I did the Virtuoso. Which is strange to me seeing that the Virtuoso was more full. Maybe I'm becoming a man?

I let this one go out right before it reached the band because of the bitterness.

Newbs: This one is Medium to Mild-Medium IMO so you should be fine.

    Thumbs up

Nice review Chris. You building up courage for the contest.

Nice review. I have a box of these on the way. I really enjoyed the last couple of ones I smoked . I've been looking for some milder smokes to enjoy during the day(when it's warmer). I never got any bitter taste though. I "roached" both of 'em.

I love these for breakfast! They go great with some iced mocha!
