Thread: Dual Humidifier Systems

  1. Default Dual Humidifier Systems

Suppose you put beads in your favorite desktop humidor (properly sized of course:-}) and you also charged the basic rectangular humidifier that came with said favorite desktop unit
What do you think the results woudl be?

    cheers

the results would all be dependent on the actual rectagular element. The size of the humi, how well it seals or doesn't seals, how often you open it, how esetablished the wood is and how many cigars are in there.

It would be hard to say the exact effect. However if you have the appropriate # of beads you should not need anything else. If the beads keep drying out then you probablyhave not easoned it properly or have introduced a bunch of dryer than normal sticks IMO.

Actually this has been discussed before and basically you would be defeating the purpose of the beads. What will happen is that the beads will try to keep the humidity in the air constant but the humidor and smokes will likely keep absorbing and become over humidified. If you use the beads or something equivalent to them then just use the beads alone. You want to make sure you have enough for the volume, and as Grado mentions if the beads dry out too quickly then you might need to re-season your humidor.

  4. Default Dual Humidifier test

Yep Monk..That is bassically what happens!
I was getting some widely fluctuating humidity readings sometimes as high as 80%

Fortunately the sticks did not stay in that environment too long
