Thread: How do you smoke a cigar?

I smoked 8 cigars on Sunday at the Superbowl party I went to. Then I smoked 8 more yesterday at the Carlos Torano event held by my B&M. And I smoked them all like a Champion Smoker. That's how I smoke cigars.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

90% of all the cigars I smoke on on Friday-Sunday, usually at night. I open my humidor and rely on one of the sticks to jump at me, usually takes about 30 seconds. Then I am out to my back patio with my cutter/punch and matches, it's not nearly as cold here as it is with some of you guys so I am not layered too much. I grab a chair (I am currently looking for a more comfortable chair). I don't know about others, but I prefer to smoke in the least amount of light as possible, it helps me unwind and drift off in my thoughts, so once I have cut or punch, all lights out. As I light, I take medium puffs and exhale right away. The rest of way I take small puffs and concentrate on the flavors, but I am still a noob in more that one sense. More than once, I have found myself in a sprawled out position just enjoying the stars, smoke and silence.....

When I have company or when I smoke with my wife around, it is a different experience. We are remodeling a game room right now, and unlike most places in LA smoking is encouraged. In these cases, it is smoke if you got em, drink it if you can handle it, and feel free to try any trick shots on the pool table you wish. Just so everyone knows I won 1st place in the worst pool player championship, and thats not intended as a joke, but thankfully, one of my friends is worse .

That would explain all the other posts in IPOD/Apple sites when I did a simple perch of his name.

i typically smoke mine out on my porch whenever i have some serious studying to do. it really helps me concentrate. its something to further occupy my mind while reading and researching so my mind doesnt wander, but not anything so complex that it distracts me from the task at hand.

I've finally gotten my way and can smoke in the house with proper ventilation.

I have some sort of strange foreplay with my cigars. I can generally only afford to buy one at a time so I smoke them pretty soon. Until they are smoked, they are repeatedly grabbed from the humidor and sniffed, then put back in. A little while before I smoke it, I take it out of the cello and get another sniff, maybe lick the cap once or twice.

Then I clip it, I prefer a really sharp double blade cutter. I used to have a torch lighter, but I've just gone with my trusty Bic lighter lately. I roll the foot around in the middle part of the flame till it's smoldering a little. Then tiny puffs and blowing till it's glowing all the way around the edge. I generally leave the inside to light from the edges so I get a nice conical coal.

For some reason I tend to do a lot of my smoking while I'm gaming. That or reading. Even though I try and smoke the stick slowly I tend to finish pretty quickly. Guess I'm just greedy or something.
I have made it a rule never to smoke more that one cigar at a time.

You've been watching that cat, haven't you?

I've learned many things from cats. One of the main ones is that things are more fun if you play with them before you kill them.

That sounds a little disturbing really. Considering a cigar's ultimate fate, it made sense when I wrote it.

I've got a three day camping trip coming up with my dad, brother, and brother in law. That's right, no women, children, or stinkin schedules. I plan to chain smoke the entire 3 days while sitting in front of a neverending fire. I'm taking about 30 cigars. Not sure if that's enough...

Right on. Cedars of Lebanon in Lebanon, TN. Never camped there before, but it's close to my dad and brother in Nashville so I'm tryin to make it easy for them. About 2/3 of my truck bed is full of seasoned hickory, ash, and oak. I might not bring enough underpants but I'll be darned if we're running out of firewood (or cigars)...
