Basil wrote in his birthday thread. That he clipped a cigar and it was a little tight. How does one distinguish this? Thanks guys.

Mornin' Dickson, you're up early. More than likely the pre-light draw was tight.

    Question

Afternoon, Brother. So if I light a cigar with a tight draw. Putting it down and getting back to it, say in a day or so will fix it??????????

maybe, if it was stored at a humidity that was too high, but if it was a tight roll then short of sticking a kabob stick through it (which I have done - it works ok) there isn't much you can do except fight through it.

For tight cigars, you might find a plug in the stick - and (I) try to massage it out. Otherwise, I put skewer through it to get it out.

My father always told me that when " grown folks talk, you shut up and listen". So when I first started smoking cigars, an old wise one called himself giving me some "tips".

I still remember almost all of them today. And one of the questions I had for him was, " What if after I light a cigar, I realize it has a tighter draw than I like?"

He told me to " massage it out" with my figner tips, up and down the stick, until it has a nice and even draw. A draw I like. So I still do this today, and find it works quite well. in extreme instances, i could poke something, like they said in an earlier post, a skewer through it, to save the stick.

    Good luck sir. Happy toking.....Tomahawk202

Yep, I do what M1101 and Tomahawk do. I massage that thing. Actually, you can usually feel where the blockage area is. I press down pretty hard in that area and I slowly roll my fingers back and forth.

Even that doesn't work sometimes, so I play through and draw like MFer until I get past the problem area. You know.....that somehow always detracts from the experience for me, though. I always make a little mental note of the cigar and I then begin to get wary of that brand, size and shape.

It figures you could take my sweet innocence into the gutter M1101. I've been busy with my new son and my new job and my nagging wife.....2 out of 3 of which are wonderful! I don't want to highjack this post, though.

The brand that I get a few tight one's with is Oliva O Bold Omni, which they no longer make, but which I love the taste of. Anyway, I think I got a bad box or the conditions that it came to me were bad. That may be why a few of them have been very tight to smoke. Also, had a few of my 5 Vegas that were tight. However, at $1.25 or less a stick (C-Bid), I am not complaining.

Hijack away brother(Some things must be addressed right away)....thanks for the replies. I noticed in the past tight cigar's from c-bid. Particularly my Perdomo ESV 91 Maestro's. Bought a poker to alleviate the problem.

Does anybody else do, what jiaguy does?
