Why I hate going to my local B & M

It was an awesome day, the weather finally got spring like here so I decided to go for a walk and see what my local B & M has in stock.

Now the guy who owns it he just knows that I look the premiums when I shop there. SO the first thing he tells me when I come in is " Hey we got something in you will love"

So he goes we got this Ashton Puro Sol it is way better than the VSG. Really hot cigar!!! And if you get the whole box I will give you a discount . Ok so the cigar is $15 a stick and its a double corona, plus I KNOW that VSG is a much better cigar, but maybe he just likes this one better. So i decide to look around.

Find a new one from Perdomo starts with a C i think. I ask how it is taste wise compared to the La Tradicion and the guy goes well La Tradicion is Perdomos top of the line cigar. First either he is a moron or ignorant SOB cause it is not the top of the line and I don't have the store but still know that, and what is even more important I asked how is taste wise so give me an snwer like stronger, lighter, etc. Ok so I ask what wrapper does the new cigar have -- AhHHH I don't know

Ok so just to put my point home I ask if they have the VSG -- NO way man that is very rare cigar, I guess you don't have the Opus either --- Nahh and a stupid smile. Ok do you have any Tatuajes cause I like the stronger stuiff. --- No but we have these . La Gloria Serie R Robusto size was $12.


I think you now know why I hate frequenting this place

Hear ya. My nearest is ok, but better when the manager or owner is in. Used to be great. I think he figured out that cigar nuts are bad to hire for salespersons beacuse they know alot, but thet also smoke up too much. He's got one guy there who always gives me "how ya doin BOSSMAN". I reply with alright CHIEF or ACE or SPORT or something, but he won't break. OH well, at last they have a free beer tap.

I'm lucky cause I have a good B&M here. They guys know what I like and actually call me when some sweet smokes come in. Sometimes they'll hold a few for me.

That is my Tampa humidor....I guess reasons why I love them more than any other store in my area. Always shows me the newest stuff and when time allows we try them out right in the store before anyone else(in the area at least)

Wow, that sucks. I went to two shops today, each has ESG (both sizes) and one had opus robusto's and beli's and the other had opus fuente fuente, beli's and petite beli's, and both carried the full line of tat's.

Oh and boxes and boxes of all sizes of vsg.

Reading stories like this makes me appreciate my local B&M even more. They're great, they've always been good to me even when I was a FOB noob who came in with all kinds of stupid questions and half-baked ill-informed opinions.

Granted, I can get better prices online for cigars, but smoking cigars for me is about a brotherhood. My B&M has created a brotherhood, so I don't mind paying a little more for the community they have created.

Most of the B&M's around here are great. My fear is that that State of Ohio and the Anti-Smoking Nazi's are doing everything in their power to drive them out of business.

I have to agree about Cincinnati. I get to Cincinnati once or twice a year for work and always stop at the Straus. They always seem to have a great selection. I always make sure I have extra room in my Cigar Caddy for the treasures I find there.

I will be very upset if they ban smoking. I make sure to visit Nicholson's Tavern & Pub for their huge selection of scotch and a cigar at least once while I am there. It just would not be the same without the cigar.

I met the owner of the Montgomery Inn last year. He was smoking a cigar at the bar with us, so I know they will lose as well. His family is well known in the state, so hopefully they will have a bit of clout and can get this stopped.
