Dominican and Honduran filler - let there be no mistake about it.
Saw this at the local shop and decided I'd give it a try.
Initial impressions are that it looked decent and smelled like a quality cigar. Roll was up to par as well.
At first light, the cigar is pretty harsh and peppery, medium-full body. A little further in and the harshness fades but a strange metallic taste comes in. The metallic and peppery flavors give way to an earthy, medium bodied cigar with a minty flavor as well. Didn't like the mint.
If it wasn't for the metallic/minty flavors, I'd say this is a pretty good cigar.
About half way the mint finally disappeared a little but by that time I was tired of smoking it so I chunked it not long thereafter.
With some age, maybe a year in the coolidor, I don't know....that mint may leave or come on stronger. I won't be finding out as I have no interest in buying any more of these cigars. I am interested to see how a smaller ring guage such as the corona would act.
For the robusto, I give it an 80.
