Thread: a quick cooler question

    Default a quick cooler question

Hey everyone, I have been away from here for quite sometime but am going to set-up a cooler and do a newbie trade. This might sound dumb, but if I am getting beads, do i need a hygrometer?

I think you should. That way you will know when the humidity drops and you have to add more water to the beads.

How often do you find yourself reloading your beads?

I ordered a half pound of beads from heartfelt, and they have a hygro with temp for 15. At first I thought I was going to have to order from two stores and only end up saving a buck or two, however both the beads and hygro were cheaper from heartfelt.

I only use cheapie hygros in all of my coolers with beads, the needles never move until the beads need water so I don't see the need for an expensive hygro.

I don't use hygros and more and would say don't bother. Beads start turning white, add water. And call me in the morning...

Save the $10-$20 and buy yourself a nice stick.
Look at that... I plumb got myself 5 raisins and 7 termites.

You'll laugh...a 10qt. I only had very small snapware container that could hold 6 sticks with a water pillow in it. So this is a BIG step for me, I'm sure I'll end up with something bigger in the near future, but atleast I can use the cooler for other purposes when I go bigger.

Hey, I started with a tall stainless steel container w/glass lid, rubber seal...that I stole from the wife (she had pasta in it, lol) & a water pillow !
