I've had some nice wines that go well - lighter (such as Savignon Blancs) don't overpower most of the cigars I smoke. Martini's are great as well (usually, a lighter flavor to them - MMAB - I like the Vodka idea - works for me too!)
Just tried Cragganmore 12 yr old scotch the other day with an Opus X - very nice combo. Both have a complex flavor that seemed to bounce off one another, making it a very enjoyable experience. It was funny, because I wasn't sure if the Opus would overpower the Scotch, or vice versa. No such thing...
If I drink a beer with a cigar, it's usually something like Blue Moon, which seems to be light enough to not wipe out the cigar flavor.
Lighter cigars I smoke with water so I don't lose the subtle flavors.
The combo that I had the other day that was just fanstastic was the new Drew Estates Java with a Pepsi - was like desert!!! Very nice...
