    Default New Cooler

    Dangit!!!!!

So evidently the temptation was too much for me and i have outgrown my tupperdor. I bought a large cooler (on sale at Academy), cleaned it out, dried it, and put a bunch of empty boxes in there with a bunch of beads to let the environment settle down. The bad thing is that the tupperdor fit nicely under the bed, and well the cooler doesn't.

Now I have to figure out how to tell my wife why there is a large white cooler in the bedroom.

Assuming I am not allowed to keep a large cooler in the bedroom, this will have to go into the study. The problem is that one of the study walls is an outside wall of the house that gets TONS of sun. The temperature in the study is normally around 77-78 in the Summer while the rest of the house is a nice 73.

So my question is this: How do I keep the cooler cool?

I live in Houston so there is no basement. The closets have exterior walls and don't have AC vents so they are just as bad as the study. I was thinking of just getting one of those blue ice pack things and keeping it in there with a towel.

Any help and/or experience is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Actually, the 77-78 isn't going to be too bad. Shouldn't get beetles before the low 80s (but this is just my experience).

As for the bedroom - you could always put a piece of cloth on it and call it a coffee table. :)
Look at that... I plumb got myself 5 raisins and 7 termites.

Maybe I'll put it over in my corner of the room next to my side of the bed...see how long she takes to notice it.

Discuss it with her and make sure she understands that there is a significant investment in the cooler. And that hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of cigars could be ruined if they get too warm. Assuming she is a reasonable person you should be able to cometo some kind of compromise, but the compromise may be less than you wanted.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

Just looked at the hygrometer I have in my closet, it is reading about 74 degrees. I consider the environment perfect. My cigars have been smoking and developing amazingly well. Even up to 78 degrees, I think you should be fine, but above 80 I would start to worry about mold and beetles.

    Just remember, family first.

Congrats on the coolidor. Next beads and great cigars, it is the best thing you can buy. But some boxes and fill er up.

Oh my god I love my cooler!

I keep it in a dark closet in the study and it has leveled out to about 74 degrees so i think I'm good there.

I just love pulling it out and opening it up. Its like its glowing and you hear the chorus of angels once its opened.
