I get a PM today with these exact words...

"What ya got for a newb?"

Needless to say my response was less than great.

I have never had any interaction with this person on this board. I have not even posted once in the less than 2 threads he has started and I get a PM like that?

To me that comes across as total mooch. It offends me. When I Started on this board I read and read and tried to contribute to gain respect and a place on the forums. I never sent out PM's asking for smokes. If I did I was willing to offer up something in advance or make a trade out of it etc...

So basically that is me venting. I have done countless newbie samplers but they were always for people that at least tried to fit in for more than 2 days around here. Also their PM's showed sincere interest, offered a hello, stated what their purpose was and usually had some intereaction on the boards.

I have received countless similar PMs. The best are the ones with 0 post newbs asking for Coobans.


On a similar note, yesterday at work we got a call from somebody I guess looking for a job. His first words were "ya got any work".

Needless to day we didn't hire him.

Drew-He seems like a very eager candidate to work. I mean, loko at his work ethic! He immediately calls in looking for a task. I think you let a gem of an employee fall between the cracks.

guado, i'm not trying to defend him because god knows i dont know this guy at all... but i think he's just akward... if its who i think you're talking about, i sent him in the direction of the 'newbie sampler' thread and i guess he read:

FunkyCold5 -- now up
Guado -- -- now up

and just sent you a PM instead of the correct method... like i said, i'm not defending him... he's made similar comments in actual posts, but that may or maynot be the reason behind his PM if its indeed who i think it is.

On the flip side I got a PM from an unknown newbie looking for some cigars...The kind you can't have in the US.

I told him the error of his ways...He is now one of the "good guys". It can go either way. Some will listen and learn...Some won't.
