Default How much of a cigar to smoke?

Today I got my noob sampler from guado ( He rocks and is awsome by the way) and only had time to smoke one of the smaller ones, a sancho panza, it took me about an hour. My question is how far do you smoke your cigar down? I got to about the last
1/5th or 1/4th and it started to feel kinda hot/bitter. Is this when you just let it go? Now I am a cheap an frugal bastard, so I will use something until it cannot be used anymore, so help me out here.

Whenever you are done is fine. There is no normal accepted amount to smoke. If it turns for the worse at the end chunk it out
The older I get ,the better I was

It really depends on the cigar. Some get chucked after an inch or so if they suck. Most of mine get thrown out with an inch or 2 left when they start to get bitter and acrid. Some are great all the way to the nub, and I throw them out when I can no longer smoke it without burning my lips.

Don't feel bad about tossing a cigar early. No point in suffering through it. Although on the flip side some cigars will start out weak, and develop into something real nice.

Like the Dude from The Big Labowski had the tweezers to hold his little doobie. Hah, what a great movie.

All depends on the cigar. Generally I smoke them till I am done(whenever the enjoyment stops) or till my fingers are burning from the nub being so small. Just the other day I made a set of tweezers out of twigs i found on the ground to finish off a great cigar.

It all depends on you. My father in law only smokes about half of every cigar he smokes. There is no right and wrong. Cigars are to be enjoyed and only you dictate where that enjoyment starts and ends.

This sums it up for me pretty well too...once it starts to burn me or taste nasty or worse, get that little wet tobacco juice thing going, I kill it. its funny how an excellent smoke can be great down to a nub of nothing and not produce heat until your lips are only a hair away from the burning ash

my dad believes in smoking until there is nothing but ash on his face though...I've seen him use tweezers and burn his fingers (and damn near his mustache) to get every little bit out of it.

It all depends on the cigar. Some cigars I toss as soon as they reach the band as they get hot and bitter after that, as you said.

Others I will smoke to a nub. I even have a meerschaum cigar holder so I can nub the shit out of them without burning my fingers. There are some fine sticks out there that are truly delicious all the way to the end. But they are in the minority.

The average cigar I smoke down to the last inch; as soon as I can feel heat on the lips. its time to quit for the day or start a new one.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.
