Maduro Review

Do you have a review (commentary on the body, construction, burn, ash, flavors, bite, color, bouquet, etc) for any of those? That's what this subforum is designed for. As for your list, the only one I've had is the SPDM, and I agree that it is a great smoke, especially for the price.

My favorites include the AVO maduro, the 601 maduro and the Oliva O maduro.

I have a small commentary on the Bolivar Cofradia...This is a bold, robust smoke with heavy flavors of earth and spice. It's a rich blend of hearty tobaccos and in my opinion, proves to be one of the strongest blends Bolivar has put out to date. This full-bodied cigar is very intoxicating with its decadent flavors, heady aroma, and intense finish.

I thought it was funny...no one actually talks that way except for people who write reviews for cigar publications.

The Gurkha Black Puro is fantastic, IMO. It tastes very, what's the word here? Oh yes: cigarlike.

I've never tried a Gurkha, thanks for the tip. Do you feel Gurkha is kinda turning into the CAO line? It seems like the market is flooded with them. So many to choose from, it's hard to find one you like that will taste the same way every time.

There are quite a few out there, probably more lines than CAO, but I've been happy with most of them I've tried.

This a great smoke!!! A true Maduro. Color is a dark black and from the moment I opened the box the smell made my mouth water. This is a full bodied cigar and for a Maduro was very mild right up until the end.(Gave me the spits) It burned evenly through the whole smoke and the ash was a nice white color instead of a dark gray. I was also able to gain a fair amount of length from the ash before I tapped it off for the first time.

If your not into Maduros, give this one a try. You may be surprised.

I really dig the Onyx Reserve No. 2. Enjoy the whole cigar but wife asks what the hell i am doing chewing the finish taste at the end. Love that. Actually get sad when it is done.

Sancho Panza's are crap sticks. I wouldn't recommend them or give em away to friends. EVERY stick I had unraveled at the smoking end. Every one. I'm sure the same went for you. The flavor was mild, and the strength was close to smoking air for the first half of the stick. Once you got down to the last third it became a "decent" stick.

For the record, I hate the SPDM.

I believe you got ahold of some fakes. How legit is the seller?

I'm inclined to agree with young Chris. I really enjoy the SPDM and most of the SP for that matter...
but why would someone counterfeit a SP? What kind of profit is there for faking an already inexpensive cigar?

I recently had one of these. I got it in an anniversary sampler. I really enjoyed the flavor though I still haven't figured out how to discern what they are yet. It had a great draw, plumes of white smoke and was really well constructed.

I'm still pretty new to cigars but I find I really enjoy maduro's. While I haven't tried a whole lot of different makes/models of cigars as of yet (I'm working on it right...lol) here's a couple of maduro's that I've tried that I've really enjoyed:

- Santa Damiana Vintage Maduro
- Rocky Patel Vintage 1990, and the Nording maduro
- CAO MX2
- Padron Family Reserve 45th Anniversary maduro

My hunting partner was in Coeur d'Alene, ID in mid Oct and brought me back several boxes of cigars and two of the Padron 45th Anniversary cigars. We had those two as our celebratory cigars after his dad bagged his bull moose this year (which I helped him get). Those were VERY tasty cigars. Possibly made better by good company after a good hunt, and sitting on a ridge over a beautiful valley watching the sunset.
