Haha nope. They are my absolute favorite beer ever. Could be that you aren't trying the right ones. American brews very seldom get it right.

Ok. Last night we did a bomber split (but somehow, I got a case of 12oz. Oh well) We tried them all:
Anderson Valley Brewing Co. ~ Brother David's Triple (Abbey)
Stone Brewing Co. ~ Vertical Epic 11 (Belgian)
Port Brewing Co. ~ Santa's Little Helper (Imperial Stout)
Avery Brewing Co. ~ Maharaja (Imperial IPA)
Mixed in a little was some SN ~ Celebration Ale

Enjoyed a few Spaten Optimators at a wedding the other night. Hadn't had that in awhile.![]()
Had a Anderson Brewing ~ Brother David's Triple while doing some bills (always helps)
now, I'm finishing up with a SN ~ Celebration ale.
Sadly, I can tell this keg is near the end. Tapping slow, and not much head. The barrel feels light.
BUT! I just put an order in for Smuttynose IPA

I didn't get the new tap yet. I'd also need to get a shank for the setup.
Actually, since I completely dismantled my current tap (with integral shank) and cleaned it real good, it's been functioning much much better than before. Probably part of the reason I haven't picked up the Perlick yet.
I should just bite the bullet.

Maybe so...although, if your current tap/shank isn't acting up right now then I'd probably wait and see what deals could be found. You won't regret spending the extra on the Perlick though, that's for sure. There are couple of companies I can recommend if you're interested.
Ninkasi Brewing Co. and 21st Amendment Brewery ~ Allies Win the War!
Ninkasi in Oregon and 21st Amendment in California collaborated to make an ale brewed with Northwest hops and California dates. The box and cans are covered in images of fake newspapers that look like they were from the end of WWII, but upon closer inspection the articles and pictures are about the beer and the brewers. (I bought a 4-pack box for my Dad--a WWII buff--and got one for myself.
It's high in alcohol (8.5%) and relatively high in bitterness (52 IBUs), but it's very well balanced with the sweetness of the malt and dates and citrusy/flowery flavor from the hops. Relatively light in body, but it still works as a winter beer. It's extremely quaffable so be careful of the high alcohol sneaking up on you.
I've just had one from my four-pack so far and looking forward to the rest.
