Default external hygrometers and air tight seals....

My humidor has an external hygrometer on it, of which is sorta loose in its socket. And there are two holes on the inside of the humi to allow it to read the RH. Now should I worry about it not being tight/sealed in its socket? Should I add some teflon tape or some other sealant to the hygo, so less air escapes? Im not even sure if it even makes a difference.

There is nothing holding it in the socket, just a nice snug fit. So not sure if I should worry about it or not.

i'm not an expert, but teflon might fix it, but then again teflon isn't for sealing. its a lubricant.

I was thinking of teflon because of how small and thin it is.

Agree, teflon tape might help. Also could try an adhesive which would secure the hygro and seal at the same time. Probably not a lot of air flow even with loose fitting. Best way to probably tell if it makes a difference is check the hygro to see if it's holding steady. If so, no worries. If not, would try the repairs.

    Cheers

Well the analog hygrometer stays at a constant 40% no matter what, so I think its FUBAR. And my 65% beads cant seem to keep the RH above 60% without a shoot glass of water in there with them. So thats why I think Im having a seal issue around the exterior hygrometer.

Either that or Im just too stupid to be able to use beads.
