Frequency of Humidor Seasoning?

Ok, just got my first humidor and so far I've followed all the standard protocalls. I wiped down the interior wood with distilled water, wetted a sponge with distilled water, and let it set overnight inside a baggie...

But how frequent do I have to wipe down the wood with the distilled water? Is it a one time thing or do I have to do it occasionally?

As long as you keep cigars in it(bought 80% full and keep the humidity constant you should never had to do it again.

I followed the instruction with mine as well. They said to NOT wipe down the interior with water. I attempted to season it by placing my charged humidification unit inside and a shot glass filled with distilled water but after two weeks the hygrometer only read 65%. (And yes, I did the baggie, salt process to calibrate the hygrometer). I ended up going ahead and wiping down the inside with distilled water and after two days opened it up and had 71% humidity. That was probably a month or so ago and I've check the humidity everytime I've grabbed a gar since, and it's been hovering around 75%. So each time I get one out I end up leaving the top open for about 10-15 minutes to level it out some and lose some of the humidity. In my situation, I can't see ever having to re-wet the interior of the humidor. I probably need to leave mine open for an hour or so and see if that helps. I'm not an expert by any means, but I think once you get your wood holding the correct amount of moisture, (humidity), periodic charging of the humidification unit should be all that is ever needed. Again, I "think" this is correct.

Thanks guys....I'll stick with one wipedown, but I kept the sponge in there for an extra day for some reason...

Right now I got a 71% rating on my meter, but it's still calibrating, I guess...

I like my gars a little on the oily side so what would the ideal humidity level to keep them nice and oily?

I like them like that too. I try to keep mine between 70 and 72%. Though every time I open my humidor it drops down to about 65%, and takes a day or so to get back up.
