Don't take this the wrong way, Fishy - but you got a bit to learn about what a counterfeit Cuban looks like...

Sadly, a few do look suspect -- especially the Monte Edicion Limitada and the Partagas'. With Cohiba's, I assume they are fake unless I bought them myself from a reputable source (or one of my enlightened brethren can vouch for its authenticity) -- hell, I wouldn't be surprised if more fake Cohiba's are sold globally in a given year than authentic ones. The Quinteros and Por Larranaga are probably legit -- at least I've never seen a fake of those brands.

CA maintains a counterfeit gallery -- take a look: http://http://www.cigaraficionado.co...,3390,,00.html
I have been holding onto some of these for more than 15 years. They have naturally just been slipped into the cello to protect them from damage. I have only smoked a couple Cuban cigars in my lifetime. They were good, but I like to save them for special occasions. I smoked on of the said Cuban's when my daughter was born in 1999.

I realize you probably have a ton of experience with Cuban cigars, but I assure you these are all legit, they came from chaps like you. People in the military have given me some, cigar tobacconist's have given me some and I have some very good clients that have given me some.
Those are all prime sources for fake cigars. Especially the ones from people in the Military, trust me on that one in particular.

Do draft dodgers have reunions? And if so what do they talk about?

No, I just saw the cello, which is pretty telltale sign that they aren't legitimate, which is why I then cleared it up.

Yes, I am aware you were joking, but in all seriousness, I really want to find out how to identify these so I can be more informed.

My brother-in-law picked up a few fake Monte's (complete with a mini glass top case) for me when he was on his honeymoon -- he didn't know any better -- they look like the edicion limitada you have. The biggest clue is the botched fluer de lis. The trick is to eyeball a real label before you go shopping -- I can spot a fake Cohiba from 20 paces now, but that wasn't always the case. For the most part, the Cubans take great pride in their cigars -- crooked labels, askew type set, rough cut edges on the labels are all certain indicators that something is hinky... I'll post some pics of the fake Monte's when I get a chance.

Play nice -- lots of knowledge here to be shared.

Don't post pictures of suspect shit and then get your panties in a wad when someone points it out.....and you'll have all the constructive and useful information you could desire.

No shame in getting taken on isom's......I have been, and I'll bet ya just about everybody else has as well. Doesn't sound to me like you paid for any of this shit anyway, all gifts, so you're out nothing. You should be appreciative of the heads up before you wasted your $$.

Take the two Monte's you have there and but them side by side......compare the FdL's.

I think I see three Monte's. One looks " en cedro"
I don't think I ever remember a Monte ISOM en cedro.
Then again, what the fuck do I know.
Maybe it's an old Upmann.
