Welcome from Jax, FL
Haha thanks again guys!
BigMacFU, I eat continentals for breakfast! Although those germans are bright guys! Im certainly of the analytic sort (thank god)
Ooh, see, I could never eat continentals, they go down all mushy and full of verbose language that makes no sense. Nope, I can't even eat them
Now, if we're dealing with germans, give me some Nietzsche, that man could write (and he would've balked at all the continental BS that followed in his wake, though he'd be chiding us analytics just as strongly).
What do you focus on or are you early in your grad work?
"If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair." -C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Well,
I have focused on a couple areas so far in my work. After my 4 yr BA I completed work in applied ethics. my graduate work is focused around contemporary analytic philosophy in the wake of Leibniz. My thesis is in the discipline of metaphysics relating to the philosophy of religion, philosophy of science, and free will.
As far as philosophy I find hard to digest would be the french continentals and popular philosophy like Zizek (although his book the indivisible remainder is apparently one of the best takes on Schelling around).
I have never been too fond of Nietzsche's philosophy although his writing, like you said, is moving. Im not sure if you have read much Schelling, but that is a difficult philosopher to get through but I find him awfully interesting.
What is your experience in philosophy?
