Wow is right bro. the thread states " I think", yet other posts go deeper: such as- religious reasons. What religious reasons? I do not know of a church besides the Mormon church that condones smoking?

Small, minor habit compared to most. Shit!
Mama said a lot of things and be thankful was the one she never minded saying twice

Well dammit, spill it out boy! Don't tease us with that statement unless you aren't prepared to share it here.

I sincerely hope you plan to tell her to take you like you are or forget the whole thing.

Never EVER change for a woman. That's wrong on so many levels. And yes I speak from experience.

Well actually she is Mormon and shes out of town right now because shes in Utah visiting her family. I have no problem with Mormons or the religion or I wouldnt be dating a Mormon. My best friend also happens to be a Mormon too, but I didnt meet her through him.

Im basically going to tell her that its her decision if she wants to continue to see me after the things that have been going on between us. Not the smoking and drinking because thats just a minor issue right now. Theres alot more things that are a part in this that play a bigger part of will we stay together or not.

Dude, with all due respect if she's a Mormon I'd get out now as fast as you can. The Mormons, JWs, and several other cult-like religions are so friggin whack I don't even want to talk to them.

    Mormon, jeez.........

I've worked with and have had many friends who are Mormon. They are actually wonderful people. I have enjoyed their friendship over the years and have never had anyone try to talk me into anything or give the slightest hint of judging me in any way. But they are very close knit both personally and professionally and I am sure marriage would present a whole different set of expectations.

Do you even know any people of those religions that you just mentioned or its just the stuff you hear word of mouth or through media that you dont like?

My best friend of like 18 years is mormon and he has an awesome family too.

Im not so religious myself, and there is alot of stuff I disagree with from every religion, but there are also alot of things I do agree with form many religions.

er.... 'scuse me, pardon me. I've stumbled into the wrong room or something.

    Since I'm here...

I got plenty of advice from friends and family before I proposed to and married my wife. The warning flags were all over the place; I just refused to acknowledge them.

I'm NOT saying you're making a mistake (I don't even know the young lady). I am saying that it's hard to listen to advice you don't want to hear. Especially when you're in love.

I should have listened. That's all. It was the worst mistake I ever made. The daughter of Satan could not have been any worse. I could tell you some tales...

If YOU want to quit smoking for your OWN sake, then by all means do so and don't look back.

    Good luck, sir.

Not trying to disrespect your beliefs and friendships. But be aware that if you get serious with this chick she'll eventually INSIST that you convert to her so called religion. Do you want to go that route? Every Mormon I've ever run across is hot to assimilate anyone they come into contact with. And you'll have to buy into all aspects of their beliefs. Just because they've been around for a couple hundred years doesn't make them legit in my book, only more dangerous.

But you still have yet to tell us what you plan to say to her. Sounds like you've decided to make a stand and that's a good thing. You need to make yourself happy first. Smoking a few cigars and having a drink now and again is no-ones business but yours, not some whack religions.

Brewdude is absolutly correct. Giving up cigars and drinks is minor compared to the rest of the story.

Im just going to tell her that theres going to be some compromise in this relationship with what I do and what she does. Im not going to type out everything im going to say to her because that would get long and boring but basically its just going to end up with both of us making some sacrafices. If she doesnt want to deal with that, then Ill end it.

You guys say stuff like I dont know the religion and what Im getting into. I pretty much know what its about and Ive even been to Mormon church. Im actually baptised catholic, but I dont practice it.

She gets back today so Ill let you all know how it goes.

you're talking some sense,emp...a successful relationship needs compromise and sacrifice from both parties....if she's not going to be agreeable,it's time to move on.

    Well...

I was going to post a pic of me smoking a cigar and drinking a beer, but I havent had time to take a pic. I sitll havent had time to even smoke a cigar, tomorrow night I will though.

Kinda funny how it happened though. I caller her, and she said she coudlnt talk because she "had a friend over." I knew something was up so I went over there and sure enough, she had some guy there. Long story short, he wouldnt come to the door, and I told her to never contact me again, ever.

Oh well, thats life right? I think it makes it easier to get over actually because it ended like that.

Luckily he didnt come outside because I would probably be in jail right now for kicking someones teeth in.

Dude, you've been to a Morman church? I didn't realize that they let in non-Mormans. What is it like
