Thread: Need a cheap lighter?

    Default Need a cheap lighter?

Look no further than your local Dollar Tree.

One of my buddies who is just getting into cigars bought me one the other day and I must say I am quite pleased with it. I've been using it as my primary. I even get this cool red flame out of it.

Note: These are cheap, plastic ... but refillable butane lighters. Only costing $1 ... definately worth it.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up and if any noobs are considering buying a butane lighter or want to know what all the fuss is about, then start here.

Also note: Apparently these could be anywhere in the store. We found them in the dish aisle in one store and the pet aisle in another. So look around and don't be afraid to ask for help.

WalMart has some good Bronson butane lighters as well for about $5 or $6 that work really well.

Next time I'm in a Dollar Tree I will check that out.

Those "dollar stores" are great because they don't try to fancy up anything:

Skin Therapy Advanced Therapy Moisturizer is just DRY SKIN LOTION.

Delicious, Naturally Hydro-7 Purified Liquid Sustenance is just DRINKING WATER.

FridgeSmarts Air-Vented Modular Containers are just FOOD STORAGE

Indestructible Manual Airborne Pest-Terminating Instrument is just FLY SWATTER.

...will pick up aformentioned lighter when I visit the DG this afternoon.

    Morning Chef,

Was wondering if this lighter had a name?

I am indeed looking for some new lighters. I've owned a Colibri Vortex, and it went to crap on me in about a month, then I had a Prometheus, and it lasted about 2 years, and is not going to crap on me...Frankly, I'm tired of dropping 75-100 bucks on 'nice' lighters.

I'm looking at Xikar right now, as they have a lifetime warranty, and those darned Germans sure do make a fine product typically. However, it's still going to set me back 50 bones.

So...long story short, yes, I'd like to try a 1 dollar lighter :)

    Cheers,

    Mark

don't believe it has a name. but if you get one, look at the warning sticker. The first word, "Ignite", is spelled wrong.

I'm a big fan of Bic's. I buy a 5 pack at Wal-Mart for $4. I tend to loose lighters.. a lot, I just grab another out of the bag and off I go.

That and most of the refillable lighters I've seen go through butane pretty quickly. It's a pain in the ass to refill them all the time.

Exactly!! Walgreens has them on special every couple of months, buy one 5 pack get one free or sometimes buy one get one 1/2 off.

I use bic lighters probably 95% of the time. I like the flame more than the torch. I use the torch in the wind.
