So my grandfather, who was also one of my best friends and virtually a second father to me passed away, today is the funeral and afterwards I'm gonna need a really, really good cigar. Anyone have a suggestion of a (again note: really, really, really good) cigar that the local B&M would probably have? Thanks.

I'm sorry for your loss. I usually reach for a Padron '26 or '64 when I want the best.

I would be careful about smoking around other people during this time, especially family/friend gatherings. I would avoid smoking around anyone that normally thinks your hobby is annoying or gross. People can be weird, and you don't want to offend others by smoking a cigar at a time when they might think it's inappropriate. We understand where you're coming from, but most non-smokers attribute smoking a cigar to celebrating something. Just something to think about.....again, sorry for your loss.

I was initially confused. I read that you were looking for a really, really good cigar, and a few choice sticks came to mind. Then I read on, and you clarified in wanting a really really really good cigar, which completely changed everything.

My short list:
Padron 1926 Anniversary maduro
Diamond Crown Maximus
DPG My Father (seems appropriate)

If I might also say, you might want a cigar that you know you will enjoy. No sense in spending money on an unknown cigar if you are looking for enjoyment. Get something you like.

I lost a very close friend this past Christmas. I go and smoke a cigar at his grave site once a month. It's not always a great cigar, but it does me some good. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

You have to find a Davidoff dealer, but just about anything Davidoff is fantastic- I particularly like the Anniversario series.

Padron '26 (as others have suggested)

Most Avo - especially their LE lines

Fuente Don Carlos (Also Opus X, Anejo and Hemingway Maduro's, if they've got 'em)
