A Vette is pretty much the only thing I would ever buy from GM. Though I would consider the new Malibu, nothing else. Not even the new Camaro.

I'd consider the Holden HSV Clubsport a.k.a. Vauxhall VXR8 a.k.a. Pontiac G8 GXP.

Pretty much the ultimate sleeper, and available at steeply discounted prices (even pre-meltdown).

Good bang for the buck, but I'm afraid it will go the way of the GTO, even with the LS3 engine. I think the Camaro will rule in this price range.

I'm with you on that, which makes the GXP even more of a sleeper .
