1. Leave the band on while lighting and 10-15 mins. later discreetly remove the band. Proper ettiquete!
2. Not sure about the band history...my guess it started as an early form of advertising.

My! What a nice ash you have!
No matter where you go, there you are!
Not only do you need to take it off, you need to take it off right away so you can pass out "genuine Habanos" to your freeloading friends who wouldn't know a good cigar from oregano leaves wrapped in brown paper.
They were originally intended as decorations that you could use to adorn a picture frame, humidor, coffee table or bar, or just to save them in a jar. Over the years there have been many stories, but this is the real reason.

P.S. I'm only kidding around. I have heard several stories, but have no idea which one is right. I in no way intend to minimize your contest. Thanks for doing it..
Does the current "Artic Blast" have anything to do with everyone's responses? lol
1. Should you take the band off a cigar before lighting it? Why or why not? (Personal preference does not count) This should be an easy one.
No, because every time you do, god kills a kitten...think of the kittens!!!!
2. What is the history of the "cigar band"? Why was it originally introduced?
Well, the Cigar Band started off as a punk band back in the day. When they realized they couldn't make any money off smoking cigars and playing punk music at the same time, they decided to go to METAL!! Since that conversion in '79 they slowly started to gain fame, however, Azmadeus Fuente, lead guitar and founding member, decided that he want to to another project and left the band to raise rabbits and smoke banana's. Without their main song writer, the band decide to write what they knew could sell on the market and in '85 they started to make porn/elevator music. To this day they are the most successful elevator band ever.
