Default Returning Lurker - kerosene heater

Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. It's been awhile since I've been here but even in the couple days I've been searching I've found some really great information. So, thanks!
Has anyone ever used a kerosene space heater when smoking cigars? I've been using an electric one but it doesn't seem to have enough power. I'm wondering if the kerosene smell will be too overpowering.
    Thanks.

Costco and other big box retailers have their patio heaters on sale right now because of the season, they're propane, and I've seen them going for 100 bucks.

You didn't say, but if you're thinking about using one indoors I would advise against it. Not because of the smell, but because it burns up oxygen and it can kill you.

Well, I bought an old kerosene heater from my local airport and was thinking of using it in my garage. It's well ventilated but because of that I needed something with a bit more power than an electric heater. I guess enjoying a cigar would be the way to go though!

I have one in my garage and use it when it's not convenient to fire up the wood stove. It works fine, and the only smell is when I shut it off, but that quickly goes away. Ventilation is the key though as Shelby07 mentioned, so if you've got airflow, you should be good. Is it a passive heater, or does it have a blower?

I have one as well, we use it at the hunting club house all winter. The only time it smells is when it's running low on fuel and when you shut it down.

Damn thing HAS set three dogs on fire this season, though... so be careful!

Yep, 35x26 3 car garage with windows and vent fans on either side. It's a forced air heater; it's pretty small so it can't be more than 70,000 BTU. I just set up my lounge so I may just keep this as my smoke spot in the summer. Then I might have to worry about a/c.
