Thread: Nat Sherman

  1. Default Nat Sherman

I've been exploring maduros over the past year and came across a Nat Sherman 5-pack on JR. 99% sure it's the 1400 DC. The good news is that it's a great cigar - very peppery and tasty, the wrapper on is fantastic. The bad news is that I found the cigars to be poorly constructed. I have smoked 2 and both had problems with staying lit and burning consistently. The cigars are very soft to the touch and just don't feel as "filled" as other cigars would. I have 3 left and they feel just a soft, so I'm not optimistic that they'll be any better.

Is this a generally known problem with Nat Shermans or did I just get a bad batch?

JR is notorious for selling over-humidified cigars. Acclimate them to your favored Rh for about a month before smoking. And...Nat Shermans might not be your best choice.

Do draft dodgers have reunions? And if so what do they talk about?

Well, that may very well be true, but this came with a bunch of other cigars I ordered from JR. All were fine except for the Nat Shermans. If anything I thought they were under-humidified because the LGCs I got in the same order were hard as rocks.

I happen to purchase a lot of cigars from JR's. As stated above, amble time in your humidor
will resolve humidification issues (I give any online purchase a month). Nat Sherman makes top of the line cigarettes, but only so,so cigars IMHO.

OK, I'll keep that in mind. Have an order coming from JR some time next week.
