Seasoning my new Humi.

So I bought a Humi last night. It came with a Digital Hydrometer and the standard puck shaped foam thing for humidification I bought some Gel stuff they had for extra Humidification. Last night I was so excited that I made the mistake of thinking all drinking water was distilled. I know I know Dumbass. So I Padded down the cedar and put a shot glass of spring water in it and it sat all night. This morning I realized what I had done and bought some Distilled H2o and re padded the cedar down and I just put a new shot glass in it. So my questions are simple I am sure for you guys.
1. Did I completely fuck up my Humidor by using non-Distilled water for a whole night?
2.While I let it sit for a few days should I keep both the Gel and the Foam thing and the Shotglass full of Distilled water in it?
3.Once it is done I know that I take the shotglass out should I still keep the Gel and the Foam thing in it?

Also I am currently testing the Hydrometers accuracy. I made a paste with salt and distilled water and put it in 2 ziplocks with the hydrometer. I know I let it set for 8 hours and it should read 75% correct? I will update this thread with results. And more questions as they arise. Thanks guys.

I personally use smoked paprika and some minced garlic. Depending on the age, a little Worcestershire as well.

Buy some beads, and forget about the hygrometer. Not 100% about the tap water in there - I'd make sure that was quite dry before applying the distilled water, but I don't know. I wouldn't imagine your humidor has suffered any permanent damage.

Finally, search & read. Then read some more.

No need to try to sound cool on an online forum. Thanks for what you did provide. And I will be buying beads when I can afford them. Not everyone is made of cash man.

Mrtr33's response was hardly what I'd term as rash. Seems as if he answered the questions that he could and referred you to search.

What I do find surprising is that you'd spend the little money you had towards something without researching it first. Then, you come here asking for help, and balk at the help you're given. If you'd done your research beforehand, you wouldn't be in this mess. But you don't want that. You want someone to hold your hand and be polite.

1. no, and most humi's now are MDF with veneer except for the tray, so wiping is mostly irrelevant.

3. yes, at least for the winter, assuming it is dry wherever you are, and assuming you're going to be opening and closing your humi often.

Just keep the cigars in cello until you learn when they should be out of cello, and you'll be fine.

... and minced garlic doesn't work as well as fresh crushed garlic in my experience.

This forum is oozing maturity why not do a little growing up and realize that your little online "cool Kids" club is irrelevant in real life and that you need to leave your mothers basement and get laid kid. I will find a cigar forum with more than 7 kids that post and have real life experience thanks.
