I ordered a Xikar 50ct crystal humidifier and when it came in the mail it was a 100ct. I contacted the seller and they would not return. So I charged it with Xikar solution. I also got a new xikar digital hygrometer and salt tested it for 12 hours and calibrated it to 75%. I put it in the humi and a day later the reading is showing 90%. Is this normal? Will it stabilize on its own? Or do I need to get a new humidifier for smaller humidors. I installed it thinking that when I did opened the lid to get a stick out it would charge back to the appropriate RH since it is larger. Please help! Thank you.
Order humidity beads from here http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/default.asp
Depending on where you live you could open the humidor for a few hours and let the RH drop or if you live in a high humidity area stick it in the fridge for a while. That should buy you enough time untill your beads arrive.

Paddy beat me to it, get Heartfelt beads. They're idiot proof. Not only will they add humidity, they absorb excess humidity as well. I would recommend the 65% variety. Once you figure them out, and it doesn't take much figuring, you won't even need a
    hygrometer. They are that good.

I agree with the beads, they are the best hing since sliced bread.
In the mean time, I would take the crystal outand see what that does for you...maybe even cover most of the opening of the jar with saran wrap and put it back in. Just gotta figure something out until the beads get there. If you are sure you want to keep cigar for more tan a few days, the beads are where it is at.
