They never told us that when we were kids?

They have a discussion about here, but I believe he is correct.

Kids! I remember when Lent was Lent. Believe me when I tell you it's only a shadow of it's Pius XII self. These days, I could do 80 days standing on my head

Do draft dodgers have reunions? And if so what do they talk about?

Well, Doc just to make you feel good, I'm not drinking on Sundays either.

I agree, if you are giving something up for lent, you should commit to it full time until Easter. I gave up my cigars, and I won't be smoking until Easter.

To me, its meaning is not to make you suffer, it's to make you remove something that allows you to contemplate your relationship with your higher power.

I think a lot of people take it the other way, and then you just end up spending Lent looking forward to its end.

I understand the concept of giving up something for Lent, and for any person doing so if it helps them to contemplate their sin and place in this world.. I believe that it is fine thing. But my personal practice (Lutheran) I can contemplate that just fine without giving up anything. Certainly is not a bad practice though. Have a good Lent everyone. Roger.
Just another day at the office!
