Very hard to tell from the pictures - and those lighters are very often faked.

You'd need to go to a dealer and have them visually inspect it. No doubt they'll give you their honest opinion.

Have you tried to light it...you know, make flame come out of it? If you have tried, and you did indeed make fire with it, my expert opinion would say, yes, it is a lighter.

Well, of course, an astronaut would look at it that way.

If you bought it from Vito, Carmine, Nunzio or Dom, for cheap money, it's a fake. If you bought it from an authorized dealer, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Well, there appear to be stains on the case velvet. So I would assume it is used/second hand. If you picked it up cheap and it works; then who cares. If you paid some coin for it, then it is a little late to be worrying about that now. If you didn't trust your source, why did you buy it?

Unless you are trying to make a nice sized profit quickly; in which case I say "If you can't tell if it is legit, then you shouldn't be trying to flip it".
    Yay! Cigars!

Idea: Use the $250 for cigars instead.

Are you prepared to do WHATEVER we tell you to do to establish its authenticity?

If there is a PING then it is real. Simple test guys.... Actually the PING is a specific NOTE and only their lighters will make that note!

Back-up idea: Don't spend $250 on something you know nothing about. Hopefully that doesn't fuck up idea #1 too.

That's all well and good in theory, but I've really done my best learning AFTER I purchased something (i.e. my '66 mustang) and learned all about what I did wrong. I mean, I know every make / model / engine / option configuration that would have been better than mine, now.

Backup-to-the-backup idea: If you don't know anything and anything, send the $250 to badwhale.

LOL. Close. They never had a 3-tree on the Rustang. Also, only the '65s has the infamous 170ci. I have a mighty 200ci, cast in maifold. Plane Jane no options, unless it came factory 65% rusted & bondo galore!

Actually, the 200ci is an anemic engine, but could be considered stronger than a V-8 because it's got 7 main bearings, where V-8s only have 5.

That's what us 6ers tell ourselves.

I feel your pain! My '67 coupe had the 200 I6 and 3 speed M/T. I soon realized that it sucked. So, I gathered some parts and swapped in a 390 and C6! Next combo will be an EFI 302 based motor with modern trans and give it to my mother.

AS FOR THE LIGHTER..... It's not a Mustang. I can tell that from here.
