humidor question

Hey! I'm new to this forum and I have a question regarding a humidor I just bought.

Should I wipe down the inside with distilled water even though it (the instructions) say not to? Thanks for the help.

I'm looking forward to enjoying this forum and reading up on all the great info posted here.
