Storage help...?

Hi, so I just got back to England from a couple of weeks in Cuba where I bought myself a box of 25 romeo y julieta no.3's these are in the metal tubes and in the original box... basically I was just wondering if these are going to last very long sat in my kitchen without me doing anything else to them?

I also bought a few Cohiba V's that are in the metal tubes but not in a wooden box like the romeo's.

any help/tips on this would be greatly appreciated as I am completely new to cigar smoking

They might be alright for a couple weeks, but you'll probably want to get a humidor or a coolerdor. Use search, there's lots of info in the "accessories" forum.

In my experience, if the seal hasn't been broken, they'll last quite awhile. If you've cracked them open to look at them, not very long.

I will add, if you just bought these cigars on a lark because you were in Cuba, I'd start handing them out and keep a few for yourself. You could probably keep them in the box with a humi pack and they'll last a fair bit. You can get humidity packs at a cigar store. In fact, if you can fit all your cigars in a large freezer bag (if they don't all fit in the box) then I'd put them in that with a humidity pack...say a 65% RH pack. With a humi pack in a sealed freezer bag I suspect they'd last quite a while.

If however, you enjoy them enough to want to make smoking cigars a regular thing in your life, I'd suggest getting a humidor....quickly!

okay, so after a hell of a lot of reading/research I'm thinking that maybe I should get a humidor such as this: http://www.humidorsonline.co.uk/pres...ty-p-5717.html with a couple of the DryMistat tubes. Does this sound like a reasonable set up for a low cost easy solution?

also, would anyone recommend keeping my cigars in their tubes whilst in a humidor or taking them out?

That strikes me as a pretty good start. Keep in mind, I've only been smoking cigars for about 3 yr's myself so the "new penny" shine is just starting to come off me.

I'd say check into humidity beads to use in your humi is they can negate the need for a hygrometer. Speaking of hygrometers, don 't rely on the analog one that came in your humidor. If it's like the few I've had, they suck big time. As I said, beads can make a hygrometer unnecessary but if you want one, spend a few bucks and get a digital.
