I want to know everything, I am currently going to college for International Business with a minor in French. I LOVE cigars like everybody here, and just want to get research because my dream is to some day open my own place!

Must haves for any cigar store:
- Cigars from all over the world, including Thailand, Norway, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and - of course, Mascedonia.
- Wine and Scotch bar
- Gourmet chef and dining facility (what goes better than a cigar than a thick, juicy steak!)
- Workout facility complete with scantily clad massage therapists - so I can lift weights while smoking a cigar (that's how Arnold got so massive) and get a good rub down afterwards.
- Betting parlor, including table games. But no slot machines - those are for girls.
- An on-staff horse racing handicapper (to go along with the betting parlor)
- Small, nine hole golf course out back.
- On premise dry cleaner
Good luck with your venture. I'm sure if anyone's going to make it work, it will be you!
BTW - you have to get in contact with YoungForbes - our resident venture capitalist. He's hard to get a hold of, but if you can connect with him I'm sure he'll want in with you!

No cigar shoppe is complete without a wide selection of Acids.
Normally, I look for cigars in a cigar shop.

Do draft dodgers have reunions? And if so what do they talk about?

In the US, there are many roadside churches and car dealers. I'll take bars and strip clubs.
Well the whole idea is I want to provide a place where new and old smokers alike a place to sit down and enjoy their cigars. I want to be able to provide fully humidified lockers, over sized leather chairs and couches, nice tv's, kitchen, bar, wine cellar.
See - your vision is SO mainstream - old school kind of thinking. Many shops have failed because the owner was afraid to venture outside the box! Break through to that next level - change the paradigm.
You truly want the create a cigar shop that is a "destination" - a place people want to go and hang out. You want to have a wide variety of services and products available that customers will spend money on.
Consider:
- Multi-screen movie theater
- Indoor skate park
- Indoor water park
- High end hotel
- Bowling alley (I know, but they're making a come back...)
- Live bands
- 500+ beer and/or wine selection
I'm in the mattress business so I guess I could help provide some of those. We are still doing the high end hotel area, right?
I LOVE all the help I'm getting!!! this is great guys!!!! I will make sure all of you will be preferred customers! lol!
Ok the other guys here have all given some really funny ideas and I like them. I do think though that how to run a good cigar shop and what to have there is a good question that most don't ask. I have a couple places around my area, and by that I would mean within a 2 hour traveling distance, and the main thing that caused me an issue when I was going was a lack of friendly and helpful staff in most places and the places that had friendly staff didn't seem to have any that had any cigar knowledge whatsoever. The main thing you need is a staff that makes an effort to know your product, is friendly and helpful to the customer and actually seems to enjoy their job. Anything beyond that for me in a cigar shop is gravy.
Preferences though also include:
A good walk-in Humidor
A nice selection of cigars from different manufacturers
Fair and decent prices
A decent selection of lighters, cutters and other accessories
A lounge with a few comfortable chairs and a TV for sports events and such
But again none of that matters in my opinion without friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
