While I am not a fan of price protection, it is legal in the USA. Davidoff/Comacho, Fuente, Padron, and perhaps others do it. How he enforced price protection on CP was a textbook example of how to piss off customers, but he isn't alone in aggressive enforcement of his and his vendors' profits.

As for the 'Cracker Jack'-type marketing, well, it does seem to work, especially on the Internet. For some of us, the gimmicks do have the reverse effect.

I've never bought any of his cigars, but the ones that I have smoked have been pretty fair imitations of the various Havanas that he has DPG copy for him. I will stick to the real thing, though :-).

Considering we all were promoting his brand, I thought his methods low brow. We gave him an appropriate goodbye. Many don't smoke his cigars any more because of his actions.

This. I smoke the Havana VI and the Miami's. I like them....and, shocker, they are regular production sticks and readily available.

    And, of course, this:

For me, purposefully and artificially created exclusive shit....inflated prices.....and "rock star" image completely turn me off. Don't get me wrong, he ain't the only one who does this shit, but imo, he is the most unabashed in his approach. Craig is definitely right, it works for him. The only drawback is what it is doing to the evolving generations of cigar smokers.

Oh c'mon. You know you'd want infused Tat Nubs packaged as shotgun shells ;-)

Geesh, I don't think the universe could stand a Lecijohrew monster.

Saw this posted up on another board. Supposedly it's from Petey's facething: (can't verify that since I don't visit facething)

"After getting a few emails, I want to send a quick message to everyone about the cards....I am not in the card business...I make cigars and the card was just some goofy fun thing to throw in each box. The card holds no value. I am sure some might be disappointed that not every box will have a card but for sure they will have all 10 cigars and that is the only thing that matters....."

Dammit...they hold no value...dammit, dammit, dammit, there went the retirement plan.

I've come to view Pete in much the same way I view Sean Penn: I like a lot of what they produce, but I can't bring myself to like the producer. I fully embrace my dichotomies as I get older.

Sounds like the ideal puff cigar to me - but to be complete, it should be called the Lecijohrewfark - the shotgun shell is one of Andre Farkas' (Viaje) limited production cigars. (Viaje announced that it would stop making "regular production" cigars in January - $mall batch only).

In looking at my stash, I realized that almost all of my favourites have been in (regular) production for years. I'm obviously not in the target audience...
